JOEL CRANE AWARD

Each season the Orlando Rage honor the memory of Joel Crane, former player, who was tragically cut down early in his life.

Joel was truly a leader on and off the football field and exemplified everything that a player, coach or human being would look for in a person.

Joel's dedication to his Lord, family, friends and teammates caused him to rise above the others.

Given Joel's work-ethic and genuine personality, the RAGE honor a player each year for his attributes and dedication by giving him the "Joel Crane Award"

2008 JOEL CRANE AWARD RECIPIENT:

#71 DL/OL Dan Turcotte

The 2008 Joel A. Crane Award is given to Orlando Rage Defensive Lineman/Offensive Lineman, Dan Turcotte. Dan comes to the Rage as a "rookie" in the SSFL, but as a veteran of many years of Minor League Football in the Midwest. While playing with the Superior Stampede of the NEFL, Dan gathered honors as Central Region All American by the Minor League Football News in 2006. As a tribute to the Rage, when Dan decided that he was moving to central Florida he asked his coach whom he should play with. The Rage was the definitive answer! Stampede's loss was surely the Rage's gain.

Dan came to training camp as an undersized. rookie seeking to play defensive tackle for the Rage who already had multi-season All Stars such as Robert Morgan, John Porter, and Eddie Key on the line. Although truly a defensive lineman, when the Rage Offensive line was  thin through injuries, Dan happily volunteered to play Offensive line. And he played it well.

With the Rage Offensive line woes behind them Dan switched back to defense. He quickly showed his skills garnering numerous sacks and tackles. Dan was always a team motivator and never held back his thoughts. He also participates vigorously in every team practice or event.

It's this sort of leadership, skills and enthusiasm that makes Dan "Cheesehead" Turcotte such a valuable member of the Rage.

Congratulations to Dan Turcotte, 2008 JOEL CRANE AWARD Recipient!
